Dear brotherhoods, Dear Brothers and Sisters,
It is with great regret that CEM - Confraria Enogastronómica da Madeira is
forced to cancel its Grand Chapter for the first time, particularly this year
in which it celebrates its 20 years of existence and had hundreds registered
brothers from different latitudes from Europe.
The CEM's board did everything to bring alive this project, first,
postponing from April to September 4-7, 2020, hopping that there would be
minimal conditions to properly conduct an event of this nature.
However, despite the good results in the Madeira Island with the measures
taken to contain the pandemic COVID-19, a sea of uncertainties remains today,
with major limitations in the gathering of large groups and a strong
possibility of new restrictive measures, as now, that the peoples are obliged
to wear a mask in public places.
This scenario led to several withdrawals and many doubts regarding the
proper execution of the XX Grand Chapter. The CEM's board didn´t had other
choice than to cancel the event in order to prevent any outbreak of
transmission and to safeguard the good memories that the participants keep from
the Region.
We thank you for your understanding and hope that we can celebrate a new
edition of the Grand Chapter at the end of April 2021.
In spite of everything, we will be delighted to welcome you this year, individually, in small groups with the necessary precautions (view Madeira Safe to Discover), do not hesitate to contact us.
